The OSG 409-0625 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.0625 inch (1/16 inch) cutting diameter, a 0.1875 inch length of cut, and a 1.5 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 15-degree helix angle provides efficient chip evacuation and a stable cut in a compact form factor. The micrograin carbide construction delivers wear resistance suited to close-tolerance work. This tool is single-end and center-cutting, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as perform peripheral cuts.
The OSG 409-0625 is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and similar setups where small-diameter precision milling is required. The 0.125 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and small-bore end mill holders commonly found in shop environments. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and contouring in steel, aluminum, and similar materials where a compact, rigid tool is needed. This is a regular-length tool in the OSG Series 409 line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for any machine spindle accepting a 0.125 inch shank end mill via ER collet chuck or comparable small-bore end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's guidelines for tool holding and runout tolerances. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended gauge line depth and torque the retention nut per the collet manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as small-diameter carbide tools are sensitive to excessive runout and can fracture under those conditions.
