The OSG 404-6299-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.6299-inch (16 mm) mill diameter, a 1.2598-inch (32 mm) length of cut, and a 4-flute, right-hand helical configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide construction delivers consistent edge integrity during both roughing and finishing passes. At 3.504 inches (89 mm) overall length with a straight-cylindrical 16 mm shank, this tool fits standard ER and side-lock collet systems used in CNC machining centers and manual mills. It ships uncoated (bright finish) and is built to OSG's Series 404BN tolerancing standards, with a mill diameter tolerance of +0.00 / -0.05 mm.
This end mill is suited for a broad range of metalworking applications including contouring, profiling, and 3D surface work in both roughing and finishing operations. It is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The single-end, standard-length configuration makes it a practical choice for general-purpose shop use in job shops, production machining, and tool rooms where consistent tolerancing and repeatable performance are required across material changeovers.
Designed for use in steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metal (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification. Fits standard straight-bore tool holders accepting a 16 mm cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the collet or tool holder to the recommended gauge line before torquing the retention hardware. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
