The OSG 404-375008 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating over a micrograin carbide substrate, delivering improved surface hardness and wear resistance over uncoated tooling. The 3/8 inch diameter cutting end runs a 7/8 inch length of cut with a 30-degree spiral helix angle. It is centercutting, enabling plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. The 3/8 inch straight shank fits standard ER collets and end mill holders. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments are the primary users of this series.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and light pocketing operations in materials such as alloy steels, stainless steels, and hardened materials where TiCN coating performance is appropriate. The regular-length geometry and 2-1/2 inch overall length make it a practical choice for general-purpose work on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills where reach and rigidity are both considerations. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration are standard for conventional CNC spindle setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 3/8 inch end mill holders and ER collet chucks accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank; part of the OSG Series 404 regular-length square end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Verify collet or holder bore size matches the 3/8 inch shank before clamping to the recommended torque specification for your toolholder system. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use; carbide is brittle and should not be dropped on hard surfaces.
