The OSG 404-3750-BN08 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride), it delivers increased surface hardness and heat resistance compared to uncoated carbide tooling. The 0.375-inch diameter cutting head spans a 0.875-inch length of cut, with a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Four right-hand spiral flutes provide stable cutting geometry. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production machining, and tool-and-die environments.
The 404-3750-BN08 suits applications in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a ball-nose profile is required for contoured surfaces, 3D finishing passes, or radius floor work. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and milling chuck toolholders commonly used on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The single-end configuration and 2.5-inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth cavities and standard reach applications without extended-reach tooling. It is not rated for extended-reach or deep-pocket applications where additional rigidity or reach would be required.
Part of the OSG Series 404BN product line. Fits standard 3/8-inch ER collet chucks, milling chucks, and side-lock holders used on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and torque the collet nut or set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear and degrades surface finish.
