The OSG 404-2969 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and other hard materials. It features a 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch) cutting diameter with four spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, producing clean, efficient cuts in a wide range of workpiece materials. The micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting conditions. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry into the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard on this tool. HVAC, plumbing, and electrical professionals who fabricate custom brackets or enclosures in a machine shop environment will recognize this as a workhorse general-purpose end mill.
The 404-2969 fits standard milling applications in job shops, maintenance departments, and manufacturing environments. The 5/16 inch shank diameter works with compatible collets and end mill holders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. The 13/16 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length place this in the regular-length category, making it well suited for shallow to moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where tool rigidity and runout control are priorities. It ships individually and is sold in single-unit quantities.
Designed for use with 5/16 inch collets or end mill holders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. Part of the OSG Series 404 solid carbide square end mill line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with milling machine setup. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder to minimize runout and prevent pull-out during cutting. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material.
