The OSG 404-1575 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.1575 inch (4.00 mm) cutting diameter and a 0.5512 inch (14.00 mm) length of cut, this tool delivers accurate material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, the 404-1575 offers the rigidity and wear resistance required for tight-tolerance work. It ships uncoated and is center-cutting capable, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for peripheral and slot milling in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where small-diameter tooling is required. The 4.00 mm shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, making it compatible with standard ER collet systems and precision tool holders. The 51.00 mm overall length provides enough reach for typical shallow-to-moderate depth passes without excessive overhang. It is commonly used by machinists working in aerospace, mold-and-die, medical device, and general precision manufacturing environments where dimensional accuracy is critical.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 4.00 mm shank tool holders or ER collet systems; part of the OSG Series 404 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tool-holding procedures. Ensure the collet or tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run. Always establish proper spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut, and never exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut guidelines for the given diameter.
