The OSG 404-1562-BN08 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.1563-inch cutting diameter and a 0.5625-inch length of cut, this tool handles contouring, slotting, and profiling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The four-flute configuration provides a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish quality. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher feeds and speeds compared to standard carbide grades. This end mill is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill fits production and job-shop environments where small-diameter profiling and finishing passes are required. The 0.1563-inch diameter suits detailed cavity work, mold and die finishing, and tight-tolerance contouring. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration is standard for conventional CNC spindle setups. The 3/16-inch shank diameter provides secure collet or end mill holder engagement on standard ER and straight-shank tooling systems. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and reduces chatter on hardened and heat-treated steels where TiCN coatings perform well.
Part of the OSG Series 404BN line of solid carbide ball end mills. Designed for use in standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and straight-shank tooling systems accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills running right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with proper tooling practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe state before installing or removing end mills. Insert the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the retention nut. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after installation and before beginning cuts to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
