The OSG 403-0625-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. With a 0.0625 inch (1/16 inch) mill diameter, 3 helical flutes, and a 30-degree helix angle, this tool delivers both roughing and finishing performance in a single-end configuration. The uncoated bright finish makes it suitable for use across multiple workpiece materials. It is part of OSG's 403BN series, engineered to consistent tolerancing standards for reliable, repeatable cutting results. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals will recognize it as a compact, capable option for fine-detail work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials alike.
This end mill is well suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills handling small-feature work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank and standard length profile make it straightforward to chuck in a standard collet or end mill holder. Its 0.1875 inch length of cut and 1.5 inch overall length position it for shallow-cavity and contour work where a compact tool is necessary. It is a single-end tool intended for right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction.
Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per OSG material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit option for applications requiring a 1/16 inch diameter solid carbide ball end mill with a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this end mill should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling operations. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout on the shank after chucking, as excessive runout at this diameter can accelerate tool wear or cause breakage. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for appropriate feed rates and speeds for the workpiece material being cut.
