The OSG 402-7874 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations. With a 0.7874-inch (20 mm) diameter and a 1.4961-inch (38 mm) length of cut, this tool delivers accurate, flat-bottomed cuts in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. The 2-flute configuration and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, the 402-7874 offers rigidity and wear resistance suited to demanding production environments. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tool setters working with vertical or horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, adding operational flexibility. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry follow standard industry conventions, making this tool a direct fit for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. The uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where cutting fluid is used and where coating compatibility with the workpiece material must be carefully controlled. Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine control in a safe, locked-out state. The tool shank should be seated fully in a compatible end mill holder or collet chuck and secured to the manufacturer-specified clamping torque range for the holder type in use. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for damage before mounting. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines for tool overhang and runout tolerances.
