The OSG 402-2812-BN is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 0.2813 inch mill diameter and a 0.75 inch length of cut, this tool delivers consistent performance across both roughing and finishing passes. The two-flute, right-hand helical design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and rigidity needed to hold tight tolerances on demanding workpiece materials. It is used by machinists in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms running CNC machining centers or manual mills.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on a broad range of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.3125 inch shank diameter fits standard collet and end mill holders. At 2.5 inches overall length, it is a standard-length tool appropriate for general-purpose cavity, slot, contour, and profile milling where a ball-nose geometry is required. The uncoated bright finish makes it easy to inspect for wear.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per OSG material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Fits standard straight-bore collet chucks and end mill holders sized for a 0.3125 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or set screw to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the tool tip before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish on ball-nose operations.
