The OSG 402-187508 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and hard material applications. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and a 5/8 inch length of cut, this tool delivers accurate square shoulder and slot milling. The TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance for extended tool life. The 2-flute, 30-degree spiral helix geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for slotting and light profiling passes. Micrograin carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention in demanding cutting conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is used in general-purpose machining environments including job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance machine shops. It is appropriate for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and engineering plastics. The 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing it to seat directly in standard collets or end mill holders without a reduction sleeve. At 2 inches overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for standard 3/16 inch collets and end mill holders used in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use. Improper runout or an under-tightened collet will reduce tool life and surface finish quality.
