The OSG 402-171911 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With an 11/64-inch (0.1719-inch) cutting diameter and a 9/16-inch length of cut, this tool delivers tight-tolerance profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The TiAlN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The 30-degree spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. This end mill is sold as a single unit and is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and tool-and-die environments.
The 402-171911 fits standard 3/16-inch collet or end mill holders and is suited for light to medium milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. The 2-inch overall length makes it appropriate for close-clearance work and short-reach applications. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, expanding its use to ramp and helical milling routines. Its micrograin carbide substrate supports demanding feeds and speeds on hardened steels, stainless alloys, aluminum, and plastics.
Designed for use with standard 3/16-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Part of the OSG Series 402 solid carbide end mill line.
Install into a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating the cut. Always power down the spindle completely before changing or adjusting tooling. Use appropriate speeds, feeds, and coolant strategies per the material being machined.
