The OSG 402-0939 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch shank diameter, this tool is built for close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and plunging in tight spaces. The 2-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to demanding cutting conditions. The uncoated finish makes it a straightforward, cost-effective option for general-purpose milling work. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for use on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual mills where small-diameter tooling is required. The centercutting design allows both peripheral milling and direct plunge cuts, adding versatility for pocketing and slot work. Its 1-1/2 inch overall length keeps deflection minimal at this diameter. The Series 402 designation places it within OSG's standard square end mill line. It is well matched to non-ferrous metals, plastics, and softer steels where an uncoated carbide tool performs reliably.
Designed as a standard-shank square end mill with a 1/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with collets and tool holders sized for 1/8 inch shanks on vertical mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Use a calibrated collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/8 inch shank diameter and verify runout before cutting. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material.
