The OSG 402-062508 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 1/16 inch cutting diameter and a 3/16 inch length of cut, this tool is built for fine-detail work in tight spaces and small-feature geometries. The 30-degree spiral helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. A TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The micrograin carbide substrate provides toughness and edge retention at small diameters. This end mill is installed and operated by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
The OSG 402-062508 is suited for milling slots, profiles, and pockets in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where small-diameter tooling is required. The 1/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and toolholders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The regular-length geometry and 1-1/2 inch overall length make it appropriate for general-purpose work where extended reach is not needed. This tool is a single-end, center-cutting design, allowing plunge entry in addition to lateral cutting passes.

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Secure the shank fully within the collet or toolholder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, leaving no more shank exposed than necessary for the operation. At 1/16 inch diameter, this tool is susceptible to breakage from excessive feed rates, runout, or unsupported overhang — verify collet concentricity before operation. Small-diameter carbide end mills should be handled carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges.
