The OSG 36901311 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Built on OSG's Series 3690 Exocarb platform, this single-end tool carries a 0.125 inch cutting diameter with a matching 0.125 inch length of cut and a 3.0 inch overall length. The WXL PVD coating is applied over an ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate, delivering thermal resistance and edge retention during both roughing and finishing passes. The 30-degree medium helix geometry promotes chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity in extended-reach applications. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. The extended-reach configuration with a 1.25 inch reach length and a reduced neck diameter of 0.123 inches allows access to deep features, pockets, and contoured surfaces that standard-length tools cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction conform to conventional CNC milling setups. This tool does not support coolant-through delivery.
The OSG 36901311 is compatible with primary workpiece materials coded P, M, K, and H (steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials) and secondary materials coded N and S (non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium), as specified by OSG for the Series 3690 Exocarb WXL product line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Before mounting, confirm the spindle is at a full stop and all machine axes are locked or homed per shop safety procedures. Seat the 0.25 inch straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece, as extended-reach tools are sensitive to holder concentricity.
