The OSG 36900411 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.0313 inch (1/32 inch) mill diameter and a matching 1/32 inch length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work in tight geometries. The extended reach design features a 5/16 inch reach length and a reduced neck diameter of 0.0290 inch, allowing access to deep or narrow features without sacrificing rigidity. The proprietary WXL PVD coating and ultra fine micrograin carbide substrate are engineered to handle hard milling at extended tool life. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tool technicians working in production or job shop environments.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 30-degree medium helix spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and stable cutting across a wide range of materials. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a straight cylindrical 1/4 inch shank, compatible with standard collet and end mill holder tooling. Typical applications include die and mold work, contour milling, and profiling of hardened workpieces where small-diameter tool precision is required.
Designed for use in standard 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical collet holders and end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes N, S). Part of the OSG Series 3690 Exocarb WXL end mill line.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before mounting. Torque the collet nut to the tool holder manufacturer specification and verify tool runout before beginning a cut. At this diameter, even minor runout or improper clamping will significantly affect tool life and surface finish.
