The OSG 3330420 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 4.20 mm (0.1654 inch) diameter, a 180-degree flat bottom point, and a 2-flute regular spiral flute geometry. The bit is finished with OSG EgiAs multi-layer coating, which is designed to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup during cutting. Overall length is 60.00 mm (2.3622 inches) with a 6.00 mm (0.2362 inch) straight cylindrical shank. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust force and improves chip evacuation in tight-tolerance bores.
This drill bit is intended for use in steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. The screw machine length format — shorter than jobber length — provides added rigidity and reduced runout, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where hole position accuracy and surface finish are critical. It fits standard collets and chucks that accept a 6.00 mm straight shank. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip removal in short, through-hole drilling cycles.
The OSG 3330420 belongs to OSG Series 5700 and is sized for applications within the 3.50 mm to 5.00 mm drill bit size range. It is compatible with any machine tool spindle or chuck accepting a 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-and-die professional familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the collet or chuck. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed-rate adjustment, and contact with hard fixtures during tool changes. Verify runout at the shank with a dial indicator before beginning a precision drilling operation.
