The OSG 3330153 is a stub-length screw machine drill bit engineered for precision drilling in tight-clearance applications. Built from solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance needed for drilling hard and abrasive materials. The bit features an EgiAs coating on both the drill tip and flute surfaces, reducing friction and extending tool life in demanding production environments. At 1.53 mm in diameter and 45 mm overall length, this right-hand, spiral-flute design is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production lines where consistent hole quality at small diameters is critical. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This drill bit is designed for screw machine length, also referred to as stub length, applications where reduced overhang improves rigidity and minimizes deflection in small-diameter holes. It is a common selection for precision metalworking in automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. The straight-cylindrical shank at 3.00 mm diameter fits standard collets and chucks used on CNC machining centers and bench drill presses. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in shallow-to-moderate depth holes without coolant-through capability, making it suitable for dry or flood-cooled setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling within the OSG Series 5700 product family for stub-length carbide drill applications in the 0.00 mm to 3.50 mm diameter range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and spindle at a full stop. Ensure the collet or chuck is clean and undamaged before seating the straight shank to prevent runout. Follow applicable machine manufacturer guidelines and shop safety procedures when handling carbide tooling, as solid carbide is brittle and may chip if dropped or improperly clamped.
