The OSG 3318430 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and other ferrous materials. The bit measures 4.3 mm in diameter with an overall length of 68 mm and a flute length of 28 mm. It features a 120-degree drill point angle with an R+W-thinned web for improved self-centering and reduced thrust force at entry. The WD1 coating provides enhanced wear resistance and tool life in demanding production environments. This bit is sized at a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and carries a straight-cylindrical shank with a shank diameter of 5.0 mm. It is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with ferrous stock.
The OSG 3318430 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel workpieces where accuracy and tool longevity are priorities. Its slow spiral flute geometry and tapered web configuration make it appropriate for short-chip materials. The 120-degree point angle and thinned web support self-centering entry, reducing the need for a pilot hole in many applications. This bit is a fit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines operating with right-hand spindle rotation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide jobber drill bit for right-hand spindle machines accepting a straight-cylindrical shank; compatible with steel and other primary workpiece materials coded H per OSG Series 5171 specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck or collet before operation and verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before engaging the cut. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in machines with excessive runout or play. Do not use this bit for left-hand spindle rotation; it is designed for right-hand cutting only.
