The OSG 3300164 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications. It carries a 1.64 mm diameter, a 140-degree split point, and a titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and improving wear resistance at the cutting edge. At 42 mm overall length with a 3.00 mm shank diameter and 10 mm flute length, it is sized for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held spindles. Right-hand cutting geometry suits standard spindle rotation. This bit is used by machinists, toolmakers, and precision fabricators working in metals, composites, and hard plastics.
The 3300164 is suited for micro-hole drilling operations in production and job-shop environments. The 140-degree point geometry reduces thrust force and walking at entry, making it well-adapted to work on hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys, and similar materials. The TiAlN coating performs well in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting conditions. It belongs to OSG Series 5330, which targets small-diameter, high-performance drilling requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use micro drill bit for applications requiring a 3.00 mm shank and 1.64 mm cutting diameter, typical of CNC machining centers and precision drilling setups using standard collet systems.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and properly torqued before seating the shank. Carbide micro drills are brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, and re-chucking with debris in the collet. Confirm spindle RPM and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and 1.64 mm diameter before beginning the cut.
