The OSG 3132016 is a miniature solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 0.0394-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0591-inch length of cut, and a 0.1575-inch shank diameter, this tool is built for micro-scale work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The two-flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The WXL coating adds surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this end mill for detailed contouring, slotting, and profiling work on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles.
This end mill is suited for precision machining operations requiring small-diameter tooling in production and prototype environments. The extended reach design allows access to deeper features without interference from the shank. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity and edge retention needed at these small diameters, where deflection and tool breakage are primary concerns. It is appropriate for use in aerospace, medical device, mold and die, and general precision metalworking applications.
Designed as a standard shank square end mill compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with collet systems accepting a 0.1575-inch (4 mm) shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's runout and collet torque guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or tool holder matched to the 0.1575-inch shank diameter to minimize runout, which is especially critical at this cutting diameter. Avoid excessive overhang beyond the specified reach length to reduce deflection and risk of tool breakage.
