The OSG 3123080 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of hardened and pre-hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. Part of OSG Series 3790, it features a 0.1181 inch (3 mm) mill diameter, a 30-degree medium helix angle, and a WXL PVD coating engineered to extend tool life in demanding ferrous and hard-material applications. The ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate supports the rigidity required for precision finishing and roughing passes. With an extended-reach configuration and a neck diameter of 2.85 mm, this end mill accesses deep or confined features that standard-length tools cannot reach. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool suited for CNC machining centers.
This end mill is intended for use in precision machining environments where tight tolerances and hard workpiece materials are routine. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). Secondary applications include non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium (ISO codes N, S). The extended reach and reduced neck diameter make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and finishing in deep pockets or stepped part geometries. It is sold as a single-end tool and ships individually.
OSG Series 3790 extended-reach ball end mills are designed for use in CNC machining centers with standard straight-bore tool holders accepting a 6 mm shank diameter. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank in a collet or end mill holder rated for the shank diameter, ensuring minimum overhang to reduce deflection. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
