The OSG 3112120 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of hardened and pre-hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. Part of OSG's Series 3790 Exocarb WXL line, this single-end tool features a 2-millimeter (0.0787 inches) milling diameter, 2 flutes with a 30-degree helical geometry, and a WXL PVD coating engineered for extended tool life in demanding ferrous and hard material applications. The ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate and extended-reach neck geometry make it well-suited for deep-pocket and confined-feature work that standard-length end mills cannot reach.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers handling precision milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. Its extended-reach design, with a 20.00 mm reach length and a 1.95 mm neck diameter, suits deep-cavity profiling, slot milling, and finish or roughing passes in tight geometries. The 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard collet chucks and shrink-fit toolholders commonly used in precision shop environments. Machinists and CNC operators working in tool-and-die, mold making, and aerospace component work are the primary users.
Designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, H, N, S). Compatible with standard 4 mm collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks with h6 tolerance. Part of the OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL platform.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the 4 mm shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening. At 0.0787 inches in diameter, this is a small-diameter tool — handle with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges or the ball nose prior to use.
