The OSG 3112080 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding ferrous and hard material applications. Part of the OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL line, this single-end tool carries a 2 mm (0.0787 inches) cutting diameter with a 1.60 mm length of cut and a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank. The WXL PVD coating is applied to ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate, providing elevated wear resistance and edge integrity when cutting pre-hardened and hardened steels. A 30-degree medium helix and right-hand flute geometry support both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The extended reach design and reduced 1.95 mm neck diameter allow access to tighter features and deeper cavities without sacrificing rigidity.
This end mill is suited for precision machining of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and tight-tolerance finishing passes in hardened workpieces. The 45 mm overall length and 8 mm reach length make it appropriate for CNC machining centers running small-diameter toolpaths in difficult-to-reach part features. It is sold as a single-end tool with no coolant-through capability, intended for use where external or flood coolant is applied at the cutting zone.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and H cover steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Secondary material codes N and S cover non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. No specific machine model compatibility was provided by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the 4 mm shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated depth of cut for the 1.60 mm length of cut, and apply external or flood coolant at the cutting zone since this tool does not support coolant-through delivery.
