The OSG 3111612 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding ferrous and hard-material applications. Built on OSG Series 3790, it features an Exocarb WXL PVD coating that improves wear resistance and heat management in pre-hardened and hardened steels. The mill diameter is 1.50 mm (0.0591 inches) with a 0.75 mm nose radius, a 30-degree helix angle, and a 2-flute helical configuration optimized for both roughing and finishing passes. The ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate supports edge sharpness and rigidity at this small diameter. Overall length is 45 mm with a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank held to h6 tolerance.
This end mill is sized for precision work in die and mold machining, micro-feature milling, and fine-detail contouring where tight tolerances are required. The extended-reach geometry, with a 12.00 mm reach length and a reduced neck diameter of 1.45 mm, allows access to deep or narrow pockets without tool interference. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium (ISO codes N, S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank in a precision collet or tool holder rated for the 4 mm diameter and verify runout before operation. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the 1.50 mm cutting diameter before engaging the workpiece. Coolant-through is not available on this tool; external coolant or air blast is recommended when machining hard or abrasive materials.
