The OSG 3111112 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. With a 0.0394 inch (1.00 mm) cutting diameter and a 0.0315 inch (0.80 mm) length of cut, this micro-scale end mill is built for precision work in tight geometries. The WXL PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability, making it well suited for pre-hardened and hardened steels. The 2-flute, right-hand helical design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining edge strength in ferrous and hard materials. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer typically specifies and deploys this tool.
This end mill is designed for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Its extended reach geometry, featuring a 0.95 mm neck diameter and 12.00 mm reach length, allows access to deep or recessed features where standard-length tooling cannot reach. It fits a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance, compatible with standard ER-style collet chucks and precision toolholders. Part of the OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL line, it is intended for use on modern CNC machining centers running appropriate speeds and feeds for ultra-fine micrograin carbide tooling.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers with 4.00 mm collet or toolholder capacity. Suitable for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO P, M, K, H classifications), with secondary suitability for non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium (ISO N, S classifications). Part of the OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL platform.
Installation and tool setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before loading or unloading the end mill. Secure the 4.00 mm shank in a clean, burr-free collet or toolholder tightened to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. At micro diameters, runout must be minimized using a precision balanced collet chuck to avoid premature edge failure.
