The OSG 3110860 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in hardened and pre-hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. It features a 0.0315 inch (0.80 mm) mill diameter with a 0.0236 inch (0.60 mm) length of cut, a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank, and a 45 mm overall length. The two-flute, single-end design runs right-hand cutting and flute direction with a 30-degree medium helix angle. OSG WXL PVD coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat control, making this tool suitable for both roughing and finishing operations in demanding materials. Ultra fine micrograin carbide substrate supports edge integrity at small diameters.
This end mill is intended for precision milling applications in ferrous metals, hard materials, superalloys, and titanium. The extended-reach geometry, with a 6.00 mm reach length and 5.40 mm neck length at a 0.75 mm neck diameter, allows access to deep or confined features without tool deflection. It is well suited for mold, die, and precision component work where tight tolerances are required at sub-millimeter cutting diameters. The 0.40 mm nose radius produces a true ball profile for 3D contouring and profiling passes. This tool is designed for CNC machining centers operating at appropriate spindle speeds and feeds for the material and diameter involved.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers with 4 mm collet or toolholder systems. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Part of the OSG Series 3790 Exocarb WXL High Performance End Mill line.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the 4 mm shank is properly seated and torqued in a clean, appropriate collet or end mill holder before operation. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut are set per OSG Series 3790 application guidelines for the specific workpiece material and hardness. At sub-millimeter diameters, tool runout must be minimized to avoid breakage; use high-precision toolholders where possible.
