The OSG 3106640 is a single-end ball end mill designed for high-performance milling across a broad range of ferrous and hard materials. Built on OSG's Series 3710 Exocarb WXL platform, it combines an ultra fine micrograin solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied WXL coating engineered for rigidity and wear resistance. The mill measures 0.3937 inches (10 mm) in diameter with a 0.5906-inch (15 mm) length of cut, a 10 mm straight-cylindrical shank, and a 100 mm overall length. The 2-flute, 30-degree medium helix geometry supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling professionals install this end mill in machining centers for precision contouring and profiling work.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials as primary workpiece materials. Secondary applications include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The ball nose geometry makes it effective for 3D profiling, die and mold work, and contoured surface finishing. It is intended for right-hand cutting with right-hand flute direction and does not feature coolant-through, extended reach, variable helix, variable index, or chipbreaker geometry, keeping the design focused on rigidity in standard-reach applications.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 10 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, H). Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes N, S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth before operating the spindle. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, and confirm spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut. Never exceed the tool's stated length of cut when engaging the workpiece.
