The OSG 3106500 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and hard materials. Part of the OSG Series 3710 Exocarb WXL lineup, this tool features a 0.1969-inch (5 mm) mill diameter, a 0.315-inch (8 mm) length of cut, and a proprietary WXL PVD coating engineered for rigidity and thermal resistance. The ultra fine micrograin carbide substrate provides edge stability in demanding applications including roughing and finishing passes. Two right-hand helical flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a strong tool core. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling operations.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, with secondary capability in non-ferrous metals and superalloys including titanium. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank design fits standard collet systems. At an 80 mm overall length with a 6 mm shank diameter and no extended reach or neck, this tool is built for compact, rigid setups where deflection control is critical. Typical applications include contour milling, profiling, and finishing of hard or abrasive workpieces on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in CNC machining applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hard materials, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. Compatible with standard 6 mm collet systems. Part of the OSG Series 3710 Exocarb WXL product family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for collet torque and runout specifications. Verify shank seating depth and collet condition before securing the tool. Do not exceed the recommended axial and radial depth of cut for the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the tool if edge condition is compromised.
