The OSG 3106301 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling across a wide range of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Manufactured from ultra fine micrograin carbide substrate and finished with OSG WXL PVD coating, this tool is built for rigidity and cutting efficiency in both roughing and finishing operations. The 2-flute, right-hand cutting configuration with a 30-degree medium helix angle promotes effective chip evacuation and stable cutting action. At 0.1181 inches (3.00 mm) in diameter with a 0.315-inch (8.00 mm) length of cut, this end mill is suited for precision work in tight geometries and small-feature milling.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter ball profiling is required. Typical applications include die and mold work, hard material profiling, and finish contouring on steel and stainless steel components. The straight-cylindrical 6 mm shank provides a secure grip in standard collet systems. The single-end geometry and standard length classification make it a direct fit for everyday small-diameter milling operations in job shop and production environments. Machinists working with ferrous metals, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium will find this tool applicable across primary and secondary workpiece material categories.
Designed for use as a Series 3710 OSG ExocarbWXL end mill compatible with standard 6 mm collet toolholding systems on CNC and manual milling machines. Suitable for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials, as well as secondary materials including non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet holder. Verify collet bore size matches the 6 mm shank diameter and that the collet is clean and free of chips before tightening. Follow machine manufacturer torque specifications for the collet nut and confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut.
