The OSG 3056334 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-precision finishing of hard materials and high-hardness steels. It carries a 4 mm cutting diameter with a 3.20 mm length of cut and a 2 mm nose radius, forming a true ball-nose profile suited for contoured and profiled surfaces. The DUROREY PVD coating provides elevated hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. At 65 mm overall length with a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank, this is a long-neck, extended-reach tool built for deep-pocket and tall-wall milling where standard-length tools cannot reach. A 30-degree medium helix supports chip evacuation while maintaining edge stability in hard workpiece materials.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers performing finishing and light roughing passes on hard materials, primarily hardened steels and tool steels. The extended neck geometry and long reach make it well suited for die and mold work, deep-cavity profiling, and rib milling where clearance to the holder is limited. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. The narrow neck diameter of 3.85 mm and 20.80 mm neck length provide clearance in deep features while the 6 mm shank seats securely in collet or end mill holders.
Part of the OSG Series 8590 line of high-precision long-neck carbide ball end mills. Intended for use with standard 6 mm collets or end mill holders in CNC machining centers. Suited for hard material and steel workpiece applications as classified under primary material code H and secondary material code P.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling specialist. Seat the 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention system per the holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edge and coating for chips or damage before mounting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before handling or changing end mills.
