The OSG 3056193 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision finishing operations in hard materials and high-hardness steels. The tool measures 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm) in cutting diameter with a 0.40 mm nose radius and a 45 mm overall length. It features a DUROREY PVD coating applied to the solid carbide substrate, a 30-degree medium helix angle, and an extended-reach long neck geometry. The neck diameter is 0.75 mm with a reach length of 9.10 mm. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals working on precision components where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical.
This end mill is suited for finishing and light roughing passes in hard workpiece materials, with a primary rating for hard material (H code) and a secondary rating for steel (P code). The extended long neck design allows access to deep cavities and tight features that standard-length end mills cannot reach. It is a single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical shank of 4.00 mm diameter, making it compatible with standard collet and toolholder systems used in CNC milling applications. The helical flute geometry promotes chip evacuation during fine finishing cuts.
Designed for use in CNC milling machines equipped with collets or toolholders accepting a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary application is hard materials and high-hardness steels. Part of the OSG Series 8590 long neck carbide ball end mill line.
This tool should be installed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidelines for the shank diameter. Verify runout at the spindle before beginning a cut, as micro-diameter tools are sensitive to even small amounts of eccentricity. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material hardness. Handle carbide end mills carefully to avoid edge chipping during loading and unloading.
