The OSG 3042002 is a 2-flute solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-precision finishing in hard materials and high-hardness steels. With a 0.0591-inch (1.50 mm) mill diameter and a 0.75 mm nose radius, it produces accurate contoured surfaces and fine detail passes at small scales. The extended-reach neck geometry — 7.90 mm reach length and 1.45 mm neck diameter — allows access to deep pockets and complex features without tool deflection issues. The 25-degree medium helix promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. A DUROREY PVD coating extends tool life in abrasive, high-hardness workpiece conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
The OSG 3042002 is designed for finishing and roughing operations on hard materials, with steel as a secondary workpiece material. Its extended-reach configuration makes it well suited for deep-cavity mold work, die profiling, and tight-tolerance finishing passes where standard-length tooling cannot reach. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet systems. The 50 mm overall length and 4.00 mm shank diameter make it compatible with common ER-style and precision collet chucks used in CNC machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option within the OSG Series 8510 line. Fits standard ER-style collet chucks and precision straight-bore toolholders accepting a 4.00 mm cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder to the manufacturer torque specification for the chuck system in use — do not exceed collet capacity. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout at this diameter will shorten tool life and degrade surface finish. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in hard materials; refer to OSG Series 8510 application data for recommended cutting parameters.
