The OSG 300-2570 is a solid carbide chucking reamer sized to Letter F (0.2570 inches decimal diameter) for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. Part of the OSG 300D series, it features a straight flute design with a right-hand cutting direction and a straight cylindrical shank for secure chuck holding. The reamer carries a bright, uncoated finish and holds a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance bore work. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute length and six flutes, it delivers controlled material removal in a compact profile. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This reamer is designed for general machining applications where a final-size, reamed hole is required. It is well suited for through-hole and shallow blind-hole finishing operations in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The solid carbide construction provides wear resistance in higher-volume production runs where high-speed steel tooling would wear prematurely. Coolant-through capability is not included, so external flood or mist cooling should be applied at the spindle when cutting conditions require it.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes equipped with standard straight-shank toolholders or collet chucks accepting the shank diameter of this tool.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before changing tooling. The reamer must run true in the holder — excessive runout will damage cutting edges and degrade hole tolerance. Feed rates and speeds should follow OSG published cutting data for solid carbide reamers in the specific workpiece material.
