The OSG 300-1960 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in general machining applications. It produces tight-tolerance bores to a reamer diameter of 0.1960 inches, held to a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, making it suitable for work where hole size consistency is critical. The reamer features a straight flute geometry with a right-hand cutting direction and a bright, uncoated carbide substrate. At 3.0 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, this tool is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, or drill presses where a straight-shank chucking-style reamer can be held in a collet or chuck. Machinists and toolroom professionals are the primary installers and end users of this tool.
This reamer is suited for finishing holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and other materials where wire-size hole tolerances are required. Wire size 9 corresponds to a 0.1960-inch diameter bore. The OSG Series 300D design is intended for standard general machining reaming operations. This tool does not support coolant-through delivery, so flood or external coolant is the appropriate cooling method when machining materials that generate significant heat. The straight flute design performs well in through-hole and short blind-hole applications where chip evacuation is manageable.
Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses equipped with a collet or drill chuck capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the applicable diameter range.
This tool should be installed by a qualified machinist familiar with reaming operations and proper cutting tool runout requirements. Ensure the spindle and chuck or collet are clean and within acceptable runout tolerances before seating the shank, as excessive runout will compromise bore diameter accuracy and tool life. Power down the machine and confirm it is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tools. Do not use this reamer as a drill — ream only pre-drilled or bored holes sized to the appropriate stock allowance for reaming.
