The OSG 300-0820 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in general machining applications. Manufactured in wire gauge size 45, it produces a reamed diameter of 0.0820 inches with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, making it suitable for work requiring consistent, close-tolerance bores. The 4-flute straight configuration delivers smooth cutting action on through and blind holes. At 2 inches overall length with a 0.5-inch flute length, this compact reamer fits short-reach applications in production and job shop environments. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for carbide reamers used across ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This reamer is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where a straight-shank tool can be held in a collet, drill chuck, or precision toolholder. It targets machinists, toolroom technicians, and production floor operators working on small-diameter precision bores in the 0.0500 to 0.0999 inch diameter range. The straight cylindrical shank allows secure clamping without the runout concerns associated with reduced-shank designs. Typical applications include finishing pilot holes, locating pin holes, and precision fit bores in metal components.
Designed as a standard carbide chucking reamer for general machining applications requiring wire-size 45 bore finishing. Fits any toolholder or chuck accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the corresponding diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed and removed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Ensure the shank is seated fully and concentrically in the collet or chuck before tightening to minimize runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality. Do not use a reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended stock allowance before reaming.
