The OSG 2895301 is a spiral point tap designed for cutting right-hand internal metric coarse threads in a wide range of materials. It carries an M30x3.50 thread size and conforms to the 6H class of fit with a D9 thread limit, making it suitable for precision threading applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. Constructed from vanadium high speed steel (HSS-E), the tap offers enhanced wear resistance and toughness compared to standard HSS. A steam oxide coating reduces friction and provides moderate corrosion resistance during use. The plug chamfer style makes this tap well suited for through-hole threading operations. Installation and use require a qualified machinist or tooling professional.
This tap is intended for use in machine shop and production environments where metric coarse threads are required in through-hole configurations. The 4-flute spiral point design pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting action, making it effective in CNC tapping centers, drill presses, and rigid tapping setups. It is suited for threading aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high-carbon steel, alloy steel, die steel, stainless steel, and hardened steel. The overall length of 138.1 mm and a thread length of 42 mm (2-9/16 inches) accommodate standard M30 thread depths in typical workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style machine tap for through-hole metric coarse threading operations. Compatible material applications include aluminum, hardened steel, stainless steel, high-carbon steel, low-carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, alloy steel, die steel, and cast iron. Not intended for interrupted threads or coolant-through tooling setups.
This tap is installed and operated by a qualified machinist using a rigid tapping holder, tapping head, or CNC machine with synchronized spindle control. Before use, ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole diameter is correct for an M30x3.50 thread form. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tap life and improve thread quality. Never use this tap in a non-rigid or floating setup that cannot maintain proper axial alignment.
