The OSG 2865408 is a thread forming tap designed for blind hole threading in metalworking applications. It cuts a 10-24 UNC thread profile to a 2B class of fit using a bottoming chamfer with 1.5 to 2 chamfered threads, allowing the tap to reach near the bottom of a blind hole. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tap delivers improved wear resistance and reduced friction compared to uncoated tooling. Overall length is 2.375 inches with a shank diameter of 0.194 inches. This tool is part of the OSG HY-PRO NRT series and is sold individually.

The 2865408 is suited for tapping blind holes in aluminum, cast aluminum, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel at 24 threads per inch.
