The OSG 220-4219 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. Sized at 27/64 inches (0.4219 inches) in diameter, it features a 118-degree web-thinned point that promotes self-centering and reduces thrust during entry. The bright/uncoated carbide construction delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys. With a spiral flute design, right-hand cut, and straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard drill chucks without adapters. It is a general-purpose tool suited for production and maintenance environments where consistent hole quality is required.
This bit is built for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes across a range of industrial and fabrication settings. Its primary workpiece material compatibility covers steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate, making it a versatile choice for machine shops, maintenance facilities, and toolroom use. The 220D series is a general-purpose line intended for standard drilling operations on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where a solid carbide edge is preferred over high-speed steel for longer tool life on harder workpiece materials.
Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks, ER collet systems, and drill press quills accepting a 27/64-inch shank. Suitable for steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with cutting tool safety practices. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the bit. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet to the full grip depth to prevent slippage under load. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; apply cutting fluid externally as appropriate for the workpiece material.
