The OSG 220-3125 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 5/16-inch diameter, a 118-degree web-thinned point, and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The bright uncoated carbide construction delivers hardness and heat resistance suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys. At 3-3/4 inches overall length with a 2-3/8-inch flute length, it follows standard jobber proportions that balance rigidity with reach. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and experienced fabricators are the primary installers of this bit.
This bit is built for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals across a wide range of applications. Rated workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, and N. Tool applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering starts. The regular spiral type and tapered web configuration make it a reliable choice for production environments, job shops, and maintenance-and-repair operations where consistent, repeatable hole quality is required.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC spindles accepting a 5/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and aluminum alloy workpieces in the 0.3000 to 0.3500 decimal-inch size range.
Installation is performed by machinists or fabricators using a drill press, CNC machining center, or hand-held drill with a compatible chuck. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation to prevent runout. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and may fracture if subjected to lateral loading or interrupted cuts without adequate setup rigidity.
