The OSG 220-2460 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter D (0.2460 inch / 6.25 mm) and designed for precision hole-making in metalworking applications. Built to Series 220D specifications, it features a 118-degree web-thinned point that reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for solid carbide tooling used in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With an overall length of 3.25 inches and a 2-inch spiral flute, this bit delivers reliable chip evacuation in general-purpose drilling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users.
The 220-2460 is suited for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloys, and aluminum silicate. It runs in standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where a straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand cutting direction are required. The regular spiral type handles general-purpose stock removal without the need for coolant-through capability, making it a practical choice for job-shop and production environments alike.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 6.25 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate per ISO material codes P, M, K, and N.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and machine setup. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and remove from service if chipping or wear is observed, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to side loading.
