The OSG 220-2344 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit with a 15/64 inch (0.2344 inch) diameter, designed for precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The 118-degree web-thinned point improves self-centering and reduces thrust when entering hard materials. With a 2-flute spiral flute design and a 3-1/4 inch overall length, this bit handles blind holes, cross holes, and through-hole drilling in production and maintenance environments. It carries a bright, uncoated finish and belongs to the OSG Series 220D line, targeting general-purpose machining applications where carbide rigidity and edge retention outperform high-speed steel tooling.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It fits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling operations in metalworking shops, maintenance facilities, and industrial fabrication settings. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for 15/64 inch shanks. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional spindle rotation on standard machine tools.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 15/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank. No coolant-through capability; external cutting fluid application applies where required by material or feed rate.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Carbide is more brittle than high-speed steel — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed rates, and cross-threading in the chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before production drilling. Observe all machine guarding and PPE requirements in accordance with applicable shop safety standards.
