The OSG 220-1875 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in the OSG Series 220D line. It measures 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) in diameter with a 2-3/4 inch overall length and a 1-5/8 inch flute length. The 118-degree point angle is paired with a web-thinned, tapered-web tip that reduces thrust force and improves self-centering at entry. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for general-purpose drilling applications. With a straight cylindrical shank and right-hand regular spiral fluting, this bit fits standard drill chucks and runs in conventional drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools.
This bit is intended for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and through holes in a range of metallic workpiece materials. Primary rated materials include steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It is a general-purpose tool appropriate for job shop, maintenance, and production environments. A licensed machinist, tool-and-die technician, or maintenance mechanic would typically deploy this bit in light to medium drilling operations where a solid carbide substrate provides rigidity and wear resistance over high-speed steel alternatives.
Rated for use in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Material performance codes P, M, K, and N. No coolant-through capability; external coolant or cutting fluid application only.
Install in a standard drill chuck or collet sized for a 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank. Secure the workpiece before drilling to prevent rotation or movement. When drilling stainless steel or cast iron, apply appropriate cutting fluid to reduce heat buildup at the tip. Inspect the web-thinned point for chipping before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to edge damage from side loading or impact.
