The OSG 220-1520 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to No. 24 wire gauge (0.1520 inch / 3.86 mm diameter) from the OSG Series 220D line. It features a 118-degree web-thinned point angle and a bright, uncoated finish. The straight-cylindrical shank and regular spiral flute geometry make it a reliable general-purpose drill for production and maintenance applications. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a flute length of 1.375 inches, it fits standard drill chucks and quick-change tooling used in light metalworking environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and HVAC or plumbing fabricators handling metal sheet and structural components will find this bit well-suited to everyday hole-making tasks.
This bit is designed for drilling blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering operations in a range of metallic workpieces. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. It is appropriate for both shop-floor production drilling and field fabrication work where a compact, jobber-length tool is required. The two-flute configuration supports efficient chip evacuation during short-to-moderate depth drilling. Coolant-through capability is not provided; standard flood or mist coolant applied externally is recommended for heat-sensitive materials.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock drill bit for applications requiring a No. 24 wire-size (0.1520 inch) hole in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, or aluminum silicate workpieces. Compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 3.86 mm diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drill press, CNC, or hand-drill operation. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout where close-tolerance holes are required. Solid carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Apply appropriate external coolant or cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, cast iron, or deep features to manage heat buildup and extend tool life.
