The OSG 215-2340 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide, this bit delivers superior hardness and wear resistance compared to high-speed steel alternatives. It features a 135-degree split point angle that reduces walking and minimizes the need for a center punch on most materials. The bit measures 2-7/16 inches in overall length with a 1-5/16 inch flute length, making it well suited for close-quarter drilling in machine setups. Sized at Letter A (0.2340 inches decimal), it is a standard selection for tapping and reaming prep work across general machining trades.
This drill bit is intended for use in screw machine operations, CNC drilling, drill press setups, and manual machine shop work where a stub-length bit provides better rigidity and reduced deflection. The slow spiral flute geometry and tapered web configuration support chip evacuation in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians working with steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials will find this bit appropriate for production drilling where dimensional accuracy is required. It ships individually and is sold in single-piece quantity.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for screw machine length carbide drill bits in the 0.2000 to 0.2500 inch decimal inch size range, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems used in CNC and manual machining equipment.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with drill press, lathe, or CNC machine operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the straight shank in a properly sized chuck or collet to the manufacturer-recommended clamping depth to prevent slippage. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to preserve tool life and maintain hole tolerance.
