The OSG 215-1160 is a No. 32 wire-size jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and alloy workpieces. It measures 1-7/8 inches overall length with a 7/8-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to a conventional 118-degree point. A bright, uncoated finish and slow spiral flute geometry make this bit well-suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, titanium, titanium alloy, and aluminum silicate. It is sold individually and intended for use in standard drill chucks without special tooling.
This drill bit fits production and maintenance applications where a small-diameter, wire-gauge bit is required. Typical installation scenarios include tapping pilot holes, clearance holes, and precision hole work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals across light manufacturing, tool-and-die, and general machine shop environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces cutting resistance at the tip for cleaner entry in harder materials such as stainless steel and nickel alloy.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nickel alloy, titanium, titanium alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Fits any drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1161-inch straight cylindrical shank, consistent with standard No. 32 wire-gauge tooling.
This bit is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician in a drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill. Ensure the chuck or collet is clean and fully tightened before operation to prevent runout, which is critical at this small diameter. Use appropriate cutting fluid for stainless steel, nickel alloy, or titanium to extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to tip damage if dropped or improperly stored.
