The OSG 215-0995 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Sized to wire gauge No. 39 (0.0995 inches / 2.53 mm), it features a 135-degree web-thinned split point that promotes self-centering and reduces walking on entry. The bright, uncoated carbide construction delivers rigidity and wear resistance in ferrous and hardened materials. Overall length is 1.811 inches (46.00 mm), with a flute length of 0.811 inches (20.60 mm) and a straight cylindrical shank diameter of 0.375 inches. This is a general-purpose, heavy-duty grade drill for production and maintenance machinists, tool and die shops, and precision fabricators.
The 215-0995 is suited for blind hole, cross hole, through-hole, and self-centering drilling operations. Its slow spiral flute geometry and tapered web configuration are optimized for steel, cast iron, and hardened materials where chip control and hole accuracy are critical. The two-flute design handles a maximum drilling depth of 2.4375 inches. Typical use cases include CNC machining centers, manual drill presses, and hand-held drilling fixtures where a rigid, tight-tolerance carbide drill is required over a standard HSS option.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide jobber drill for general-purpose metalworking applications in steel, cast iron, and hardened materials classified under material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling practices. Secure the shank fully in a compatible drill chuck or collet before operation, and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits to prevent premature edge chipping. Power down the machine and lock out energy sources before changing or inspecting the bit. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts at high feed rates, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces.
