The OSG 20555002 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding materials. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The EXO PVD coating — a TiAlN-class finish — provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and hard materials. The Weldon flat shank provides positive torque transfer in standard milling toolholders. This tool is single-end, right-hand cut, and center-cutting, supporting both plunge entry and conventional side milling. It is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The OSG 20555002 belongs to OSG Series 2055, engineered specifically for roughing and finishing operations in stainless steel, titanium, superalloys, and hard materials. With a 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, it is well suited for cavity milling, profiling, and finishing passes in aerospace, medical, and industrial component work where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical. The variable helix geometry reduces harmonic chatter at higher feeds, improving process stability in difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for use with standard milling toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and hard materials (ISO material codes M, S, and H). Part of the OSG Series 2055 end mill family.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or tool-change state. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a side-lock or set-screw toolholder to the torque specification listed for that holder. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tools. Follow the machine manufacturer and OSG Series 2055 recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material.
