The OSG 20230600 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0200 inch corner radius, and a 2-flute right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The single-end, centercutting geometry allows for both plunge and peripheral cutting operations. With a bright/uncoated finish and coarse pitch, this tool is optimized for roughing passes in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in standard straight-shank toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill suits production and job-shop environments where non-ferrous materials are the primary workpiece. The extended reach configuration, with a 1-3/8 inch reach length and 0.4960 inch neck diameter, provides clearance for deeper pockets and stepped features without sacrificing rigidity. The 1/2 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and contouring operations in soft metals where chip evacuation and surface finish are critical.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank cylindrical toolholders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code: N), including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys. Part of the OSG Series 2023 end mill family.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool-crib technician. Secure the 1/2 inch straight shank in a compatible toolholder to the shank diameter tolerance specification (h6) before mounting in the spindle. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the workpiece, as excessive runout accelerates corner radius wear. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool offsets and depth of cut.
