The OSG 200-2500 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous materials. With a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch decimal, 6.35 mm) diameter and a 140-degree web-thinned point, this bit delivers clean entry and reduced thrust in steel and cast iron applications. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cut make it well-suited for controlled, accurate hole-making in production and maintenance environments. Overall length is 63.50 mm with a 34.90 mm flute length. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for solid carbide tooling used in general-purpose drilling where coating is not required.
This drill bit targets machining and metalworking professionals working in job shop, production floor, and maintenance settings. It handles blind holes, cross holes, standard through-hole drilling, and self-centering applications. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, making it a reliable choice for general ferrous machining. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collets without modification. It is sold individually and is suited for both manual and CNC drilling operations.
Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill for use in steel and cast iron. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at 1/4 inch diameter. Part of OSG Series 200.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide cutting tools. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is properly torqued before operation. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, and dropping or impacting the cutting edge. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when drilling steel or cast iron.
